"curve/block bench I" (subtitled "I dream of porridge") baltic birch, wenge, steel 66" x 13" x 17"h 2004 designed by wells mason what’s my fascination with benches? i guess it’s that benches seem to encourage a sense of community. benches are about groups of people — sitting together, sharing space. a chair, on the other hand, can only seat one person at a time. by their very nature, chairs are exclusive. i guess i like what benches do. and what they have to say. I just wish that people were more like benches and less like chairs . . . |
